Day 1 USA-Madrid
  Depart the USA on an overnight flight to Madrid. Dinner and breakfast served on board.
Day 2 Madrid
  Upon arrival, meet with your guide and transfer to your hotel for check in. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Overnight Madrid x 3 nights. [D]
Day 3 Segovia-Avila
  Travel to Segovia and visit the best conserved Aqueduct of the Roman Empire and the magnificent Cathedral. Visit (he convent near Vera Cruz church where the mortal remains of St. John of the Cross are buried. Continue to Avila, lovely city dedicated to St. Theresa, the first woman to be named a Doctor of the Church. Visit the cathedral the monument marking her birthplace and the Carmelite convent. [BD]
Day 4 Madrid-Toledo
  Tour of Madrid including: The Royal Palace; Plaza Mayor; Plaza Espana with its monument to Cervantes; Puerta del Sol, the Cibeles Fountain. Continue to Toledo, once the spiritual and intellectual center of Spain. Visit the 13th century Gothic Cathedral, church of Santo Tome, the synagogue of Santa Maria La Blanca and El Greco's house. Day 5 Zaragoza
  Depart Madrid to Zaragoza and visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar, the 2nd most popular pilgrimage site in Spain. The magnificent altar in the basilica is built on the site where the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St. James. See the Chapel of the Virgin, Assumption of the Virgin statue and artworks inside the basilica. The tradition of the Pillar affirms that the apostle James (the "Greater"), discouraged by the disappointing results of his preaching in Caesarea Augusta (known today as. Zaragoza) was about to return disconsolate to Palestine. On January 2, 40 AD, the night sky lit up and there appeared a host of angels who, carrying on a column the Virgin Mary, stuck the granite column into the ground. The Pillar (the column) is topped by a small statue of the Virgin and Child. Overnight: Zaragoza x 1 night. [BD]
Day 6 Santo Domingo de Silos
  Depart to Santo Domingo de Silos. The monastery is home to the Benedictine monks whose recordings of Gregorian chant have helped popularize the Church's treasury of sacred music. Continue to Burgos, the historic capital of Old Castile. Overnight: Burgos x 1 night. [BD]
Day 7 Burgos-Leon
  Visit the limestone cathedral of Santa Maria where the mythical El Cid is buried. Depart Burgos for Santiago de Compostela; en route stop to Leon to visit the gothic cathedral that has stain-glass windows that rival the famous Chartres cathedral in France. Continue to Santiago de Compostela. Overnight: Santiago de Compostela x 2 nights. [BD]
Day 8 Santiago de Compostela
  Like ancient pilgrims, walk the narrow streets of the city towards the Cathedral of St. James, one of the finest examples of architecture in all of Europe. Visit the magnificent Cathedral and climb the stairs behind the high altar to visit the crypt where the relics of St. James are preserved. [BD]
Day 9 Braga-Coimbra-Fatima
  Depart Santiago de Compostela for Fatima, en route stop to Braga to visit the amazing Sanctuary of Born Jesus do Monte. Continue to Coimbra to visit the Carmelite Convent where Sister Lucia mortal remains were entombed for one year before they were solemnly transferred to the permanent crypt in Fatima next to Jacinta and Francisco. Arrive in Fatima, where the Blessed Mother appeared in 1917 to three simple shepherd children and exhorted the mankind to pray for world peace. In the evening participate in the torchlight procession. Overnight: Fatima x 2 nights. [BD]
Day 10 Fatima
  Celebrate Mass at the Little Chapel of the Apparitions. Visit: the Basilica, the site of Francesco. Jacinta and Lucia's graves, the Hamlet of Aljustrel, Valinhos, the site of Our Lady's appearance after the children's return from prison. Follow the Stations of the Cross along the Via Sacra culminating in the Chapel of Calvary, which overlooks all of Fatima. Join pilgrims from around the world in an evening torchlight procession to pray the rosary. [BD]
Day 11 Santarem-Lisbon
  Depart Fatima for Lisbon; en route stop to Santarem and visit the Church of St. Stephen, containing the oldest recorded Eucharistic miracle dating back to 750 AD, a relic of the Bleeding Host. Proceed to Lisbon and enjoy a city tour of some of the more popular sites in the capital city: the Monument of the Discoveries, the Belem Tower, and the Jeronimos Monastery. Overnight: Lisbon x 1 night. [BD]
Day 12 Lisbon-USA
  Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the USA.
